CASA Eye Medical Examination

When requested, pilots and air-traffic controllers, whether class 1,2,or 3 certified must have a vision exam with a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Credentialed Optometrist (CO). During the CASA eye examination, our CO's assess various aspects of visual function to ensure pilots meet the stringent visual requirements regulated by aviation authorities. We prioritise open communication to ensure pilots feel confident and informed throughout the entire examination.



What you need to bring

  • Photographic identification 
  • CASA ARN (Aviation Reference Number)
  • Both your current and backup spectacle correction
  • Contact lenses (if worn)
  • List of current medications
  • Any relevant medical information
  • Sunglasses (if intending to drive after the examination)


What to expect

One of our CASA Credentialed Optometrists will perform a full eye examination for which you should allow 60 minutes. The examination will include an assessment of your;

  • Visual fields
  • Colour vision
  • Binocular vision
  • Visual acuity 
  • Contrast sensitivity
  • Spectacle prescription
  • Dilated fundus examination (your vision will be blurred for approximately an hour after the examination)
  • Retinal imaging
  • Optical Coherence Tomography


When making your booking

  • Specify the the appointment is for an aviation eye examination, as only Stuart is registered as a CO.  
  • Allow 60 minutes


Results will be uploaded directly to the CASA website.
